Mitsubishi’s in-car smartphone technology coming to Australia in 2015
30th Jun, 2015
Mitsubishi Motors has confirmed its newly-developed integrated smartphone infotainment system will be rolled out to Australia in coming months.
Mitsubishi’s Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA) system for both Android AutoTM*1 and Apple CarPlay*2 will be available on the updated 2016 Pajero SUV later this year.
SDA allows users of either Android smartphones or iPhones to connect to the dashboard display using a USB cable. The system is designed to allow the driver, either by using the touchscreen or by voice control, to safely and simply:
access navigation and other apps on their smartphone
make and receive phone calls
send and receive text messages and
listen to music
The system also completely eliminates the need for regular map updates to the car’s navigation system by accessing the latest map information from the smartphone.
Android Auto Features
Android Auto automatically brings you useful information and organises it into simple cards that appear just when they’re needed.
Let Google Maps lead the way. It’s easy to get where you’re going with free voice-guided navigation, live traffic information, lane guidance and more.
Your favourite tunes – to go! Access and stream over 30 million songs, customised playlists and more with Google Play Music.
Just say the word – Best in class speech technology makes controlling everything with your voice fast and easy.
Hit the road with your favourite apps. Android Auto makes it easy to access your favourite apps and contents in your car.
Apple CarPlay Features
Apple CarPlay takes the iPhone features you’d want to access while driving and puts them on the vehicle’s display in a smart, simple manner. You can get directions, make calls, send and receive messages, and listen to music, all in a way that allows you to stay focused on the road.
Complete with turn-by-turn directions, traffic conditions and estimated travel time. Can also predict where the user is most likely to want to go using addresses from their email, text messages, contacts and calendar.
Make calls, return missed calls and listen to voicemail. Siri helps do all these things.
Siri can take dictation, read aloud, send and reply to the driver’s text messages for them.
Access your artists, songs, playlists and third party audio apps using your car’s built-in controls. Or just tell Siri what you’d like to listen to.
Android Auto or CarPlay requires Android 5.0+ (Lollipop) or iOS8+ devices respectively
Smartphone Link Display Audio will not operate in areas with no service signal and may not operate in supported areas where the signal is weak
Users are responsible for all charges incurred using smartphones and iPhones to connect to Android Auto and CarPlay respectively
Some functions may not be available for use depending on the user’s location
