Supporting Toby Price at Finke
June 19, 2018
Toby Price has closed out his 2018 Finke 'Iron Man' Double campaign by finishing 1st in the Bike category but being forced into a DNF result the Truck Category with a broken Power Steering Pump on the final day of the 2018 Finke Desert Race.
After failing to reach the finish line in the Red Bull Trophy Truck, Price flew back to the Finke start line for the final leg of the Bike. Taking off from first, Price led out in front and was able to recover from a fall 100km out from the finish line. Price eclipsed the all-time record for Bike Wins, claiming his sixth 'King of the Desert' title in just 9 years on his KTM 500 EXC-F. The KTM Australia Rider finished the Race with a time of 03:55:25.1, over 10 minutes ahead of the next rider.
"All went really well, we're pumped - we got our 6th win for the Finke Desert race! The race was definitely hard on us, we had a little bit of get off around the 100km mark coming home. Overall I'm stoked, 6 wins on the bike for KTM and it's amazing that we've got the record for all-time wins in that category." Toby Price
We were along for the journey by supplying Toby and his team with support vehicles to help him while he was up in the desert.
"To have my favourite ute with me in the Red Centre of Australia for the 2018 Finke Desert Race was a massive relief, plus the additional Pajero Sport's which Mitsubishi Motors Australia supplied our Toby Price Motorsport team! The elements were no match for our support vehicles especially the Triton, which towed my Twin Axle Patriot Camper Recovery Trailer 440km from Alice Springs to Finke and returned down the heavily corrugated service road which runs alongside the Finke Desert Race Truck. Knowing how reliable and comfortable both models of Mitsubishi’s were it gave me great confidence in having everyone surrounding me comfortable for the amount of traveling we’d all be doing over the 8 days! I can't thank Mitsubishi enough for supporting my 2018 Finke Iron Man Double campaign and providing us with such amazing support vehicles."
