The plug-in hybrid SUV was selected from a long list of compelling ‘Best Buys’ to take the top honour.

The panel of judges praised this year’s winner for its versatile drivetrain, packaging, performance and value.
The Motor Report’s Publish and Managing Editor Tim O’Brien said the Outlander PHEV was a clear and worthy winner.
“This very clever piece of advanced EV technology not only establishes a new affordable benchmark for sustainable motoring, but, by packaging these technologies into an SUV, Mitsubishi engineers have moved the goal posts significantly in driveability, ease-of-ownership, and practicality,” he said.
“This car, at $47,490, the world’s first plug-in SUV, brings technology within reach of family buyers.”
Mitsubishi Motors Australia CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri said it was pleasing to see the Outlander PHEV awarded for its EV technology.
