Mitsubishi Motors Australia have loaned a Triton and Pajero to Guide Dogs Victoria as the world’s biggest guide dog, Gulliver, arrives in Melbourne ahead of International Guide Dog Day on Wednesday 27 April.
Standing at 4.25 metres tall on his trailer, and weighing 690 kilograms, the Triton and Pajero have made light work of Gulliver, towing him around the state to help raise awareness of the important role Guide Dogs play in enabling freedom and independence for people living with vision loss.
“Thanks to Mitsubishi, our larger-than-life mascot Gulliver has travelled safely across the country to help us celebrate International Guide Dog Day and promote the Recollections exhibition, landing out the front of the State Library on Wednesday,” said Karen Hayes, CEO Guide Dogs Victoria.
Made of foam and coated in fibreglass, Gulliver replicates the iconic model guide dog collection boxes that Australian’s are accustomed to seeing in shopping centres since the 1970s.
Gulliver will stop by high-profile areas of the city this week including the Victorian State Library and Royal Exhibition Building in his role of reminding the public that guide dogs are allowed in all public places.
