Outstanding Outlander

Outlander has been awarded a 5-Star rating by the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), the highest rating possible. ANCAP, Australia’s leading automotive safety authority is supported by Australian and New Zealand automobile clubs, the state government road and transport authorities of NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia, the New Zealand Government, the Victorian TAC, NRMA Insurance and the FIA foundation.

This technology makes it easier to start off up steep city streets by preventing the vehicle from rolling backwards. It maintains the braking force for two seconds giving you time to move your foot from the brake to the accelerator.

Active Traction Control (ATC) helps the Outlander maintain traction on the most slippery or rugged of surfaces. It automatically controls the engine's output – so driving wheels are prevented from spinning. Sensing loss of traction in independent wheels, ATC applies braking force to that particular wheel and sends extra power and torque to other wheels with traction to keep the vehicle moving and in control.

Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) works hand-in-hand with Outlanders's ABS computer to assess load and distribute braking force between the front and rear wheels. As such, when you have load in the rear, it helps you stop in a shorter distance than with standard brakes.

Outlander is equipped with ABS, which allows the driver to maintain steering control of the vehicle, letting the driver manoeuvre around objects under heavy braking conditions.

ASC maintains stability and control when cornering by automatically recognising under-steer and over-steer. It applies brakes to the appropriate wheels to keep you online through corners.

The radar on the front of the Outlander Aspire Premium is used to detect obstructions in front of the vehicle and to issue warnings when there is the danger of collision. Additionally, automatic braking is performed to avoid collision or reduce impact.

OUTLANDER has 7 SRS airbags – Side airbags for thorax protection, Curtain airbags that drop down from the ceiling and protect the occupants from side collision, Driver & front passenger for head on collisions and Driver’s knee airbag to protect the legs and to stop the driver from sliding forward. A comprehensive system to provide the ultimate in protection for all occupants in the event of an accident.

The reversing camera (not available on ES models) supplements the driver's rear field of view by automatically appearing on screen when reverse gear is engaged.

The reversing sensors on Outlander will warn you if you're getting too close to an object behind you, and will also take the very last centimetre of guesswork out of parking or backing into a tight spot.
